DSRI HPC: Riviera
Riviera Update 2/23/2026
We are getting ready to make some major upgrades to the Riviera HPC. These updates are required to prepare the system for the next step towards our full system move to Powerhouse Energy Campus. Please review the following important milestones and transition requirements. These steps are necessary to ensure smooth and controlled progression of the project.
Effective Immediately – Full Change Freeze
- No new software installations or configuration changes.
- No new data transfers to the cluster.
- No new user onboarding.
This freeze will help us stabilize the environment as we prepare for the upcoming transition.
Compute Deadline – March 9th, 2026
- The last day to run compute jobs on the cluster will be March 9, 2026.
- Please begin reviewing your storage footprint and remove any unnecessary data.
- Start transferring smaller batches of essential data off the system immediately.
Data Transfer Schedule – Now until March 19, 2026
- Continue transferring smaller batches.
- Beginning March 6, you may initiate larger batch data transfers.
System Goes Offline for Updates Beginning March 19, 2026
- The full system will be going offline on March 19 to allow for mandatory updates.
- We will keep users apprised on a timeline while the system is offline.
Your proactive attention to these milestones will be critical to minimizing disruption and ensuring the project stays on schedule.
